Job Title: Wellness and Youth Sports Director
Branch: Brandywine YMCA
Location: Coatesville, PA
Shifts/Availability: Full-Time, Exempt
Salary Range: $42,000-$47,000

About the YMCA of Greater Brandywine:
The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW), an association of eight YMCAs serving Chester County, is a non-profit organization committed to nurturing the potential of every child, promoting healthy living and fostering social responsibility through life-changing programs for all.

Position Purpose:
The Wellness and Youth Sports Director manages the implementation, development and delivery of the Wellness and Youth Sports programs. Recruits, trains and supports assigned staff and volunteers. Additional responsibilities include hiring and training of staff; curriculum development; budget control; and adhering to all regulatory and Association standards. The Wellness and Youth Sports Director leads the Wellness and Sports teams in providing a safe environment and provides leadership in expanding both Wellness and Youth Sports programming.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures programs and services meet community needs to include supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Models the importance of building connections among staff, members, program participants and volunteers.
  • Cultivates relationships with peers at community health organizations and participates in community-focused health events and meetings.
  • Models effective listening skills when interacting with staff, members and volunteers. Ensures that staff have opportunities to develop their own listening skills.
  • Provides education for staff on how to support and respect the need of individuals with diverse abilities or varying health status. Ensures staff understand and apply cultural awareness to healthy living practices. Helps staff, members and program participants achieve goals.
  • Researches and identifies new trends, including technology, to inform healthy living and sports programs.
  • Recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Onboards and develops them for success.
  • Manages the Wellness and Youth Sports programs, including developing and monitoring the program budget to meet fiscal objectives; compiling program statistic to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program.
  • Assists with annual campaign activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum of two years of YMCA experience-related experience or within another organization required
  • Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff required
  • Preferred knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations
  • YMCA Team Leader certification preferred
  • Must be fluent in spoken and written English
  • Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire
