The Director of Development will oversee the college's major gift fund raising efforts in support of current operations, endowment, capital, and other priorities from private sources which align with Pamplin’s strategic priorities as set forth in the Virginia Tech Boundless Impact (BI) Campaign that concludes in 2027. The college has experienced extraordinary fundraising success in the first half of the BI Campaign. This highly motivated professional also will manage an expanded team of five fundraisers on behalf of the college, including coaching and development of gift officers comprised of three major gifts officers and two leadership gifts officers. Managerial responsibilities also include the supervision of a stewardship officer. We anticipate additional positions will be added to support the further scaling of the program in the campaign.
S/he will fulfill the duties under the direction of the college in close cooperation with the University's central advancement office. Reporting to the assistant dean of advancement in the Pamplin College of Business, the Director of Development will, in addition to managerial responsibilities, qualify, cultivate, and solicit philanthropic contributions from a portfolio of Pamplin alumni and friends. Solicitation range typically will fall in the range of $100,000 to $2.5 million. The Director will also oversee the donor stewardship protocols within the college. S/He will establish strong working relationships with central advancement, and the college staff to foster a productive work environment. S/He will work closely with the assistant dean of advancement, dean, department heads, and center directors to develop and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies in support of their programs. S/he will staff a senior volunteer development committee and work with volunteers to promote the philanthropic priorities. S/he will serve as a senior member of the Pamplin College of Business Advancement team working closely with colleagues in Pamplin alumni engagement and communications and marketing as part of an integrated advancement model. The Pamplin advancement team is growing to serve our 45,000+. With a $250 million building project underway, top rated academic programs, 26 Pamplin volunteer advisory boards and 550+ engaged volunteers Pamplin alumni serving on these boards, the successful candidate will be joining a best-in-class advancement team.
