Associate Executive Director of Youth Development-Full Time-Alexander YMCA

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Branch Executive Director and in cooperation with YMCA staff, the Associate Branch Director of Youth will provide vision, organize, manage and lead all youth programs supporting the branch. They will be responsible for managing such functions in accordance with the stated mission and polices established by the Board of Directors and administrative staff of the YMCA of the Triangle Area, Inc.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides visionary leadership. Plans and directs, in conjunction with related staff, YMCA Youth programs serving all aspects of the YMCA community and ensures that those programs are managed so that they both fulfill the needs of the community and fulfill the purposes of the YMCA.
  • Inspires, trains, leads, directs, supports, evaluates, educates and coaches the branch Youth Department – modeling relational engagement, healthy conflict, and ensuring quality program delivery which includes our Commitment to Serve, innovation, staff development, teamwork and growth.
  • Recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Onboards and develops them for success.
  • Maintains a visible presence throughout all youth programs/facility/campus and institutes a plan to visit all off-site and on-site youth programs twice per year.
  • Develops and facilitates growth in volunteer development for youth and family programs.
  • In conjunction with the Branch Executive Director and branch leadership team, responsible for all aspects of the Annual Campaign including leadership of the Community Gifts wing of We Build People.
  • Ensures compliance with state and local health codes and provide reports as required by program or health department guidelines/codes.
  • As a member of the branch leadership team, responsible for actively seeking ways to contribute and support all branch initiatives operations, functions, special events, and community relations.
  • Develops an annual budget in accordance with the budgetary guidelines of the association and manages that budget effectively.
  • Ensures all documentation/certificates/licenses/inspections/certifications/rental agreements are current and organized.
  • Establishes key partnerships with community stake holders (WCPSS, City and County Leadership, Church partners, other Non-profits)
  • Responsible for a strong partnership with the Southeast Raleigh YMCA leadership team to promote high functionality in youth and campaign programs.
  • Responsible for developing and appropriately leveraging relationships that result in new philanthropic support for the branch as well as YMCA of the Triangle.
  • Actively participates on the Branch Advisory Board and interfaces with the branch community. Will drive an assigned board task force or committee with a volunteer.
  • Participates on Association IQ teams and committees as appropriate.
  • Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred and 4-7 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in youth programming, program development and personnel development.
  • Experienced and passionate about creating and fostering communities and relationship building through programs.
  • Ability to effectively manage staff and programs.
  • Exceptional oral, public speaking and written communication skills.
  • Possess a high level of organization, ability to prioritize and possess the capacity to respond and handle multiple tasks appropriately in a dynamic and fast paced work environment.
  • Requires a positive attitude, high level of initiative and professionalism, and enjoy working in and creating a strong team environment.
  • Demonstrate initiative, effectively prioritize, and possess strong organizational, analytical and project management skills.
  • Maintain high level of discretion and confidentiality in all areas.
  • Capacity to assist in the management of facilities, equipment, and programs.
  • Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn and work in a variety of computer programs.
  • Must have and maintain current Commercial Driver’s License “P” endorsement, Basic Life Support, Oxygen and AED certifications, or be willing to obtain these within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Multi-lingual desired but not required.

  • BLS, AED, O2 and First Aid certifications.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach, and must be able to move around the work environment.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Some evening and weekend work is required.
  • The YMCA of the Triangle requires employees to comply with all COVID related PPE, cleaning, reporting and prevention expectations efforts. Further training and detail will be provided upon question.
