The Louisiana Public Health Institute (LPHI), founded in 1997, is a statewide community focused 501(c)(3) nonprofit and public health institute committed to ensuring all Louisianans have just and fair opportunities to be healthy and well. Position Summary

LPHI, a learning-informed organization, dedicated to professional development, coaching, and collaboration through an equity lens, seeks a full-time, experienced, and energetic Senior Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Coordinator to support and lead the design and implementation of research and evaluation projects at LPHI. As a member of the MEL team, the Senior MEL Coordinator will build the capacity of their teammates to perform ethical, equitable evaluation and research, and will build the evaluation capacity of external partners.

The Senior MEL Coordinator will report to the Senior Evaluation Manager and will work cross-collaboratively across LPHI, including program and project team members, team members from finance, communications, and other areas represented across the organizations.

This position will be based in New Orleans. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this position will commence remotely therefore ideal candidates should have the ability to telework.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, social sciences, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 2+ years’ professional experience in monitoring, evaluation and/or research.
  • Training and applied experience in qualitative and/or quantitative evaluation and research methods, data collection, and analysis.
  • Track record producing high quality dissemination products and translating information to diverse audiences.
  • Strong commitment to LPHI’s mission and values.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Planning and Coordination of Project Implementation

  • Support and/or lead the creation, maintenance, monitoring, and execution of project work plans and strategic communications to internal and external stakeholders regarding project status and progress.
  • Support and/or lead the creation and execution of evaluation plans.

Data Collection, Analysis and Dissemination

  • Support and/or lead the creation and implementation of research and evaluation protocols/plans.
  • Support and/or lead qualitative and/or quantitative data collection, analysis, and dissemination.
  • Ensure consistent use of best practices in evaluation and research protocols and methodologies.
  • Support and/or lead the development of strategic dissemination materials to diverse audiences including project/funder reports, presentations, manuscripts, one pagers, blog postings, newsletters, etc.
  • Support and/or lead the interpretation and presentation of data to internal and and external partners and clients to inform policy decisions and set priorities

Internal and External Capacity Building

  • Contribute to and provide feedback on project and evaluation design, implementation, and report writing/dissemination product creation by other team members
  • Guide team members across LPHI on using data for policy and decision making
  • Provide evaluation design and data use technical assistance to team members across LPHI as well as external partners and clients

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support grant and program development, including but not limited to grant writing as well as grant and programmatic research on evidence-informed and or innovative funding opportunities.
  • Support and/or lead convenings with community and organizational stakeholders.
  • Support and/or lead the development of communications materials, including writing content for LPHI newsletters, website and social media.
  • Proactively support and/or lead overall organizational operations advancement efforts.
  • Attend and actively participate in team and LPHI-wide meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary/Benefits

  • Minimum starting salary of $46,000.00 dependent on education and experience.
  • A competitive benefits package is offered to all LPHI full-time staff.
