POSITION INFORMATION: The Coordinator for Leadership and Volunteerism develops and manages multiple student programs such as Leadership HSC, Leadership Lunch Series, and summer programs; organizes student development activities such as HSC Read and Lead and firstyear student programs; coordinates and facilitates volunteer opportunities within the HSC campus and OKC community including, but not limited to, HSC Big Event; and represents HSC Student Affairs across the state in programming and recruitment.

  • Program Planning. Assists the Director, supervisor, or other personnel in the development of the overall plan for the program.
  • Activity Coordination. Coordinates activities with institutions, counselors, students and professionals to facilitate proper functioning of the student program.
  • Project Coordination. Coordinates and carries out projects or assignments pertaining to the education, recruitment, or activities of students. May include providing guidance to students, event planning, producing inhouse publications, performing public relations functions, etc.
  • Information Distribution. Provides information to students, employees, or the outside public. Independently responds to a variety of surveys, questionnaires and other requests for information.
  • Communication. Communicates with students, faculty, alumni, professionals, administrators, etc. Acts as the liaison for the program and outside agencies, other colleges, departments, etc. Develops and maintains relationships with various agencies, individuals, universities, etc.
  • Troubleshooting. Analyzes a variety of problems and carries out special assignments to solve those problems.
  • Report Preparation. Independently develops original drafts of materials pertaining to the student program.
  • Data Collection. Collects data, and researches various materials. Gathers information through verbal and written inquiry, and evaluates or prepares presentations, newsletters, etc.
  • Data Maintenance. Maintains various forms of data for the program.
  • Meeting Attendance. Attends or visits various events or meetings that involve obtaining support for the program, keeping abreast of current issues, etc.
  • As Needed. Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
Job Requirements
Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related field
Experience: 12 months experience in student affairs, counseling, recruiting, or closely related field
Equivalent/ Substitution: Will accept 48 months related experience in lieu of the Bachelor’s Degree for a total of 60 months experience
  • Able to plan events for students
  • Ability to set up for each event
  • Ability to manage a team of volunteers
  • Organized
  • Manage multiple tasks
  • Basic computer skills
  • Experience in college student affairs or a nonprofit organization
  • Master's Degree
