The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is seeking a Director, Corporate Philanthropy and Global Partners. As a senior member of the Advancement Department, the Director of Corporate Philanthropy and Global Partners is responsible for working with Advancement Department under the oversight of the Deputy Director and Chief Advancement Officer to determine and implement effective funding strategy for corporate membership, as well as corporate sponsorship and engagement in support of exhibitions, educational programming, events and general operations at the Guggenheim Museum and its international partners and affiliates. The Director will maintain particular oversight in partnership with the CAO of the museum’s Global Partner program. This includes securing multi-year, principal level engagement with national and global corporations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position supervises a team of four including: two Senior Managers of Corporate Development, Manager of Corporate Membership, and Associate of Corporate Development.

Key Responsibilities:

Identify and directly solicit corporate funding prospects in partnership with Chief Advancement Officer (CAO), Corporate team, senior museum staff, curators and project directors.

  • Work with CAO and staff to develop presentations and strategies to approach corporate prospects for major exhibition and programming support, global partnerships and other major initiatives.
  • Assist with development of all corporate proposals, written solicitation materials and project budgets.
  • Draft and negotiate terms of sponsorships and prepare agreements with museum legal staff.
  • Manage annual budget of approximately $3 million in revenue annually, provide ongoing revenue and expense projections and conduct appropriate financial analyses.
  • Develop strategy for growth for corporate sponsorship, corporate membership and Global Partners programs.
  • Provide support to corporate membership program with ongoing evaluation of new target market segments, membership levels and benefits.
  • Supervise ongoing needs of Global Partners, including six and seven-figure multi-year contracts, devising and overseeing development of unique benefit offerings and providing special assistance as required.
  • Explore appropriate licensing activities with corporate partners.
  • Keep abreast of Guggenheim programming through ongoing contact with curatorial, education, exhibition and administrative staff.
  • Collaborate with Advancement staff on joint funding projects.
  • Manage and develop staff members including overseeing employee onboarding and providing career development planning and

Qualifications and Requirements:

A. Degree, M.A. or M.B.A. Desired.

  • 10+ years of corporate philanthropy, engagement and sponsorship experience, ideally on a global scale.
  • Progressive management responsibilities and experience overseeing staff development.
  • Track record of success securing major six and seven-figure corporate sponsorships.
  • Familiarity with or experience working within the corporate sector(s) and keen understanding of the philanthropic, marketing, public relations, branding, digital, and special events needs of major corporations.
  • Impeccable writing and speaking skills with the ability to communicate persuasively about Guggenheim projects to senior executives and groups.
  • Experience creating original presentations for targeted audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Interest in the visual arts.
  • Facility with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Raiser’s Edge.
