Established in 1967, Sound Generations is a comprehensive non-profit organization that serves older adults and adults with disabilities in King County. Our mission is to support people on their aging journey through community connections and accessible services.

We are currently seeking a Donor Relations Associate to join the Marketing & Philanthropy Team.


The Donor Relations Associate manages the donor database, processes contributions and donor recognition, and conducts donor research. Supports department fundraising activities and events including annual fund campaigns, in-house appeals, third party direct mail, donor stewardship and special events. Provides administrative support to the Marketing and Philanthropy department.


  • Performs day-to-day workflow of data entry and manage the Salesforce donor database. Prepares files for mailings, reports on revenue and pledges, determines coding for consistent and accurate records, reconciles with controller, and backs up data.

  • Gathers and compiles data. Prepares reports.

  • Supports workplace giving campaigns and holiday giving. Tracks and matches gifts. Processes and acknowledges donations in a timely manner.

  • Works with the Donor Relations Manager to compose annual fund appeals.

  • Coordinates large scale direct mail efforts with outside contractors.

  • Manages and stewards our recurring donor portfolio. Researches and tracks status to see who may have potential to become a major donor.

  • Provides support for special events, and troubleshoots issues.

  • Monitors and tracks payments and expenditures. Reconciles accounts and prepares invoices.

  • Maintains office supply inventory and purchases supplies as needed. Orders brochures, business cards and event supplies.

  • Supports department operations and development projects, initiatives, and events.

  • Demonstrates an eagerness to learn and enhance skills that promote equity and inclusion. Participates in events related to understanding institutional racism and other forms of oppression.

  • Assumes and effectively discharges other related duties as assigned.


Education & Experience

  • BA/BS in Business Administration or related field required. Four (4) years' of directly related (or similar) experience may be substituted for the degree.

  • Minimum two (2) years' experience demonstrated proficiency in administrative support and data entry.

  • Minimum two (2) years' experience in fundraising.

Skills & Abilities

  • Advanced MS Office skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Direct experience working with Salesforce or other fundraising software.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and goals, problem-solve, and prioritize among assignments.

  • Self-motivated and goal/deadline oriented.

  • Ability to write clear and compelling direct mail copy and various donor communications.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and sincere attitude.

  • Ability to work as a team member, display tact and grace under pressure.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Must have ability to travel locally as needed.
