The LifeFlight Foundation is a small, independent non-profit with a huge public mission dedicated to assuring that everyone in Maine has access to emergency critical care at the point of need. Located in Camden, The LifeFlight Foundation supports LifeFlight of Maine, a distinct but interrelated 501(c)3 nonprofit and an internationally recognized leader in transport medicine. It is LifeFlight of Maine’s stated objective to demonstrate, through its practice, the highest levels of safety and quality.
As Maine’s rural communities struggle to provide a full spectrum of emergency services and as specialty care becomes more centralized, the need for LifeFlight is increasing. As part of our response we are expanding our current leadership team and are seeking an experienced philanthropy professional to lead LifeFlight’s development effort. Core attributes of the successful candidate include:
Ten years of experience in annual fund, endowment building, major gift campaigns, grant writing and public relations.
Three-to-five years of progressive executive nonprofit management experience.
Demonstrated experience partnering with a nonprofit board of directors.
Demonstrated experience successfully cultivating and soliciting major gifts from individuals and managing capital campaigns.
The successful applicant for the position of Executive Director will maintain and expand the Foundation’s ability to support LifeFlight’s critical public mission and its ability to meet the new and increasingly complex emergency medical needs of the nation’s oldest and most rural state. The Foundation raises funds for aircraft, medical equipment, hospital helipads, statewide aviation improvements and clinical and community educational outreach programs.
The Executive Director will provide leadership, direction and administration of all aspects of the Foundation. In addition to partnering with the Foundation’s Board of Directors, this leader will work in a matrix reporting relationship to the LifeFlight of Maine Executive Director who currently serves as the Executive Director of both organizations.
NOTE: Due to the current pandemic environment the LifeFlight Foundation will hold this position open for a minimum of 45 days to allow business conditions to stabilize. It is anticipated first round interviews will be conducted remotely with final interviews scheduled in person in Camden, Maine.
