Position Summary As our first Arizona Campaigns Director, you will have the opportunity to build a strong organizing culture from the ground up. This position is part strategist, part administrator, and part organizer. We are looking for someone who has the skills and drive to organize the resistance to Washington’s attack on Arizona families, and build a strong, progressive, and durable political organization in the state. No one person can do all of that by themselves. You will need to develop and lead online and offline organizing drives and campaigns that build our base of activists, members, and leaders that became the state's largest political volunteer base. The main quality we are looking for in this position is a track record of organizing people from different backgrounds into meaningful, united action. The position is through the 2020 electoral cycle with a potential to extend depending on performance and funding. Job Responsibilities Member Organizing and Leadership Development
Develop and execute organizing plans that build the WFP’s activist base, membership and leadership cadre
Identify, recruit, train, and manage a diverse group of volunteers from Working Families-aligned organizations and communities as well as the broader public
Work with the WFP team and partners to organize and facilitate training workshops that develop the skills, knowledge, and analysis of our members, leaders, and candidates
Serve as Arizona WFP campaign lead and representative on campaign coalition tables
Supervise and mentor Field Organizers and interns in WFP field programs
Organize regular house meetings, membership meetings, and other local events to engage WFP members and activists
Build a team of local leaders that ensure all gatherings have strong attendance (benchmarks to be assigned) and utilize a WFP culture grounded in creating radically welcoming and engaging spaces
Work day to day with key leaders (institutional leaders and rank and file, individual supporters and members, and movement leaders) teaching, coaching, mentoring, and training them, and helping build their commitment to the party
Ensure tracking of supporters and members and their leadership development in CRM/database and build a team of members capable of this
Electoral and Field Work
Develop, organize, and facilitate a candidate endorsement process to identify WFP champions
Work with WFP endorsed candidates and ballot measure coalitions to develop campaign plans that build our base of supporters and lead to victory
Develop and execute a volunteer voter outreach program, including door-to-door canvass, phone bank, text operations, and ballot parties
Oversee field work implementation including writing scripts, cutting turf, and setting up phone banks, texting, and validator call operations
Produce regular and end-of-campaign reports to monitor progress toward goals and document outcomes for funders, organizational partners, and candidates
Governing Board Management (and Development)
Conduct outreach to progressive labor unions, social justice groups, and grassroots activists to build an Organizing Committee that guides the work of WFP in Arizona
Organize, facilitate, and provide strategic leadership for Organizing Committee meetings
Maintain productive communications and relationships with Organizing Committee members
Media and Communications
Serve as organizational spokesperson for community events and media relations including writing and delivering speeches to engage the public in organizational priorities
Work with national communications staff on op-eds, letters to the editor, and other earned media strategies
Oversee press releases, endorsement announcements, pre-election teasers, and other media outreach
Lead Arizona WFP’s digital presence including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and e-mail
Develop and implement a strategy that engages online activists to take offline action
Fundraising
Develop and lead local individual donor and foundation fundraising including organizational dues, political donations, house parties and events, appeal letters, and digital efforts
Work with national team on fundraising efforts including writing grant proposals, concept papers, and campaign descriptions
Work with the national fundraising team to complete grant reports in a thorough and timely manner
Administration
Create and manage budgets for campaigns and various tax statuses
Work with national finance team to ensure legal and campaign finance compliance
Oversee the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of state-based staff
Oversee the on-boarding and training of new staff
Oversee the supervision of staff including goal setting, weekly check-ins, professional development planning, and (when necessary) termination
Coordinate payroll, employee benefits, and employment policies with national human resource staff
Create a safe and open atmosphere for teamwork and cooperation to achieve organizational priorities and goals

Strong grasp of contemporary political issues and current events
Deep and demonstrated commitment to racial and economic justice
Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds, one-on-one and in a group
Self-starter with the ability to thrive in a team environment
Capacity to multitask in a fast-paced setting
Willingness to work long and irregular hours, including nights/ weekends, depending on campaign needs
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Gmail, and GSuite
Knowledge of digital organizing tactics, including strategic use of social media platforms & mass e-mail
Car and valid driver’s license (mileage reimbursed)
Three years of experience recruiting and working with volunteers
Five years of experience in political campaigns and/or community or labor organizing
Experience working with VAN, Votivate, or other voter file software
Experience working with phone bank (ThruTalk, CallHub, etc.) and texting (Spoke, Hustle, etc.) platforms
Bilingual Spanish/ English strongly preferred
Compensation
Salary for this position is between $60K to 70K annually, depending on experience. A competitive benefits package includes health, dental, vision, and life insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan, paid holidays, and generous vacation and sick time.
