Peer Health Exchange (PHE) is a national non-profit organization that empowers young people with the knowledge, skills, and resources to make healthy decisions. We do this by training college students to teach a robust skills-based health curriculum in under-resourced high schools across the country. Since our founding in 2003, we have trained more than 8,500 college student volunteers to deliver effective health education to over 115,000 public high school students in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Washington, DC. In 2016, PHE launched a five-year strategic plan focused on growing our effective model while partnering with health and education systems, as well as communities to build a more integrated, sustainable model for health education. As the Senior Development Manager, Boston you will work closely with the Executive Director, Boston in meeting the revenue needs of the PHE Boston site (annual budget of ~$700K) through individual and institutional fundraising, researching and writing compelling proposals, executing external communication strategies, planning engaging events, and overseeing data and knowledge management systems. The position will also work closely with the Program Director, Boston; Boston Alumni Board; and Boston Board of Directors.

This is a full-time, salaried position located in our Boston, MA office.

Here’s what you will do as part of our team:

60% - Pipeline Development and Donor Management

  • Partner with the Executive Director in creating and managing a comprehensive strategy to grow individual giving, improve donor retention, and upgrade giving
  • Develop and build a giving portfolio of foundations and corporations by conducting research to identify prospective donors and preparing compelling letters of inquiry, grant proposals and reports
  • Support in the management of donors including preparing team members for donor meetings, setting up and scheduling workshop visits, and implementing a robust communication strategy
  • Manage a portfolio of lower-capacity donors ($5K and under) and interface with external stakeholders as needed

20% - External Affairs & Board Management

  • Develop, plan, and execute on events, media strategies, outreach, and communication in order to increase PHE’s visibility in the greater Boston area

  • Collaborate on the development of materials (e.g., local newsletters) and reports to keep donors engaged in events, programs or projects they have helped fund

  • Support the Executive Director in managing the Boston Board of Directors and leveraging their personal networks in service of local fundraising needs

  • Recruit, oversee, and manage the local Alumni Council

20% - Reporting, Systems, and Data Management

  • Oversee and strengthen local data and knowledge management systems for prospecting, research, pipeline development, stewardship, and follow up

  • Maintain and update dashboards; create and maintain reports that monitor progress against goals, fundraising targets, and upcoming deadlines

  • Prepare fundraising reports for the Boston Board of Directors and support overall board material packet creation for local board meetings

What you’ll bring to the table:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of fundraising experience in a nonprofit development/fundraising support capacity with demonstrated experience successfully receiving grant funding

  • Understanding of development practices including a working knowledge of donor relations and fundraising events

  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills

  • Strong passion for PHE’s vision for health equity; mission to empower young people with the knowledge, skills, and resources to make healthy decisions; and strong alignment with PHE’s core values of Health, Equity, Agency, Communication and Impact

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with prospect and donor management in Salesforce
