The Aspen Leadership Group is proud to partner with Kent State University in the search for an Assistant Vice President for Corporate Relations.

Reporting to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, the Assistant Vice President for Corporate Relations (AVPCR) will oversee the centralized corporate relations fundraising program within Kent State University, maintaining a pool of leadership corporate prospects to generate significant private support for the university. The Assistant Vice President supervises two Corporate Relations Officers and an External Relations Officer for the College of Public Health.

The opportunity to increase KSU’s corporate philanthropy is significant. Currently, 447 of 588 corporate entities with philanthropic capacity greater than $25,000 are located within northeast Ohio, the footprint of Kent State’s main campus and seven regional campuses. By leveraging existing advancement officers on all eight of the university’s campuses, the AVPCR will lead a corporate relations program that significantly advances the university’s mission and priorities. Working collaboratively with university internal and external leadership, including faculty and staff, the corporate relations team will develop fundraising strategies that focus on securing gift commitments of $100,000 or more, allowing other fundraising officers to help cultivate and secure corporate giving below that amount. The university is currently in the quiet phase of a $350,000,000 campaign, and is planning to launch the public phase in the fall of 2020.

Kent State transforms lives and communities through the power of discovery, learning, and creative expression in an inclusive environment. As Northeast Ohio's premier public university, Kent State University is proud to host more than forty centers and institutes—each of which supports the institution's teaching, research, and public service mission in its own unique way.

The Kent State student body reveals the inclusivity that is the university’s hallmark, seen in admissions, gender, or race and ethnicity data. Aside from the personal fit that students feel at Kent State, academic quality backed by nationally recognized faculty draw scholars who want to learn from the best. With nearly 32,000 undergraduate students and more than 5,500 graduate students enrolled from all 50 states, more than 98 countries, and from many different ethnic backgrounds, many diverse connections are established at Kent State—peer-to-peer, classmate to classmate, and classmate to professor.

Kent State University is consistently ranked among the top 100 national public universities in U.S. News & World Report’s Top Public Schools ranking of Best Colleges. This prestigious distinction is recognition of continued growth in academic reputation and student retention.  Kent State also ranks in the coveted first-tier list in the Best National Universities category. Kent State continues to be the only public university in Northeast Ohio to be ranked in the top tier, and it is one of only six Ohio public universities on the list.

A bachelor’s degree is required for this position as is a minimum of eight years of experience in corporate fundraising in a complex higher education setting or a comparable environment, including three years of experience managing professional staff.  A master's degree is preferred.  All applications must be accompanied by a cover letter and résumé. Cover letters should be responsive to the mission of Kent State University.
