The Athletics Director of Development at the Montana State University Alumni Foundation is responsible for securing financial gifts from individuals, private foundations, and other philanthropic entities to benefit Montana State University Bobcat Athletics.  The Athletics Director of Development reports to the Vice President for Development while maintaining alignment on workload and priorities as defined by the MSU Director of Athletics. 

The Athletics Director of Development is expected to manage a portfolio of approximately 150+ MSU prospects securing major gifts of $25,000 or more on behalf of MSU Athletics through active identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.  The Athletics Director of Development conducts at minimum 180 strategic face to face meetings per year followed by contact documentation and will work closely with other athletic department leaders, coaches, and development colleagues to coordinate and collaborate in order to maximize gift potential for athletics and Montana State University. 

Frequent travel out of state may be required as well as regular participation in evening and weekend activities.

Desired candidates must possess a baccalaureate degree and 2+ years’ demonstrated success in athletic fundraising, preferably within a university setting.  A valid Montana driver’s license (or eligible) is required. 

The Athletics Director of Development is expected to be highly organized, a strong communicator, collaborative, and possess the ability to motivate volunteers, peers, and prospects.  A successful Athletics Director of Development is a self-starter, takes initiative to meet goals, must possess a high level of personal and professional integrity, works collaboratively with colleagues, is willing to travel and able to confidently lead a successful fundraising program including strategic planning, goal setting, implementation, and performance to defined metrics.
