About The Position

The Center for Civilians in Conflict (CIVIC) is an international nonprofit with offices around the world working to improve protection for civilians caught in conflict zones. We work with armed actors and civilians in conflict. Together, we develop and implement solutions to prevent, mitigate, and respond to civilian harm. We are advocates who believe that no civilian caught in conflict should be ignored, and advisors who provide practical solutions to preventing and responding to civilian harm. CIVIC seeks a highly qualified, senior development professional to lead the organization’s strategy for generating revenue. The development director’s objective will be to increase CIVIC’s unrestricted support, particularly by establishing a major-gifts program and introducing CIVIC to HNWIs who can make significant contributions.

The director of development will work closely with the executive director, program staff, board of directors, and the development team to expand the organization’s fundraising efforts, with a focus on unrestricted support.

We are seeking a leader with the vision and ability to create and implement a long-term, sustainable development strategy for the organization; the managerial and leadership skills to grow the capacity of the development team; and, ideally, personal relationships with donors in the conflict prevention space. CIVIC’s senior leadership is dedicated to raising the funds the organization needs to achieve its mission and will support the development director as needed.

The position is full-time, with flexible work arrangement possible, and reports to the executive director.

Job Purpose:   Raise and grow CIVIC’s budget, with a focus on increasing unrestricted revenue
