The Huntington Theatre company is in one of the most exciting and transformational times in the organization’s nearly 40-year history, embarking on a major renovation and expansion project and in the midst of a five year- $100 million comprehensive campaign. The Huntington seeks an experienced Foundation and Corporate Relations Manager to lead institutional giving efforts for theatre operations and special programs.  The Foundation and Corporate Relations Manager is responsible for building upon an existing institutional giving program and broadening and deepening relationships with foundations and corporations principally to support annual fund revenue growth.  The successful candidate must be able to work independently and in collaboration with other departments as well as with members of the board and senior management team.  The Foundation and Corporate Relations Manager reports to the Director of Development.  They will also work with the Chief Development Officer and the Managing Director to create an overall institutional giving strategy and to develop sustained relationships with funders.

 

The ideal candidate will have the expertise to research and identify sources of support, proactively seek opportunities to generate new proposals based on foundation and corporate guidelines, prepare grants and maintain strong ties with corporate and foundation donors and prospects. We are looking for someone who is energetic, ambitious, goal-oriented and creative, with a talent for building strong and productive relationships.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Raise $1.1M from corporate and foundation sources, incrementally growing institutional revenue by 20% over a three year period

  • Maintain portfolio of corporate and foundation funders, conducting research and tracking prospect pipeline

  • Develop, manage and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies for foundation support, including but not limited to preparing grant proposals, reporting, stewarding and renewing grants

  • Create and develop a robust corporate sponsorship program: crafting materials, conducting in person visits, preparing proposals and associated support materials, closing sponsorships and negotiating and fulfilling marketing agreements

  • Prepare regular status reports on foundation and corporate programs to demonstrate progress and keep others apprised of action steps

  • Working with the finance department, develop budgets and other financial documentation requested by institutional funders

  • Work with board members and staff to identify potential links among the Theatre’s constituencies and develop systems for regular communications to vet pipeline among leadership

  • Steward assigned prospects and document all relevant activities in Tessitura database

 

 

Required knowledge, skills & abilities

  • Knowledge of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies and techniques, particularly in the area of corporate and foundation fundraising

  • Demonstrated ability in proposal writing with proven closure ability

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and networking skills with large groups as well as with individuals.

  • Ability to initiate and build relationships with prospective corporate and foundation donors and interact via telephone and in person with institutional representatives.

  • Demonstrated record of success in generating significant commitments from corporations and foundations.

  • Willingness to work nights and weekends as needed.

  • A bachelor’s degree preferred and 3-5 years progressively responsible foundation and corporate fundraising

  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs and use of relational databases such as Tessitura
