Senior Director of Development – Peoria Campus

The University of Illinois College of Medicine is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated individual to join its development staff as a Senior Director of Development.  The Senior Director of Development will be located on the Peoria campus and interact with world-class faculty engaged in education, research and patient care.  The College of Medicine operates on four campuses and trained 1 of 6 physicians practicing in Illinois.  The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria  (UICOMP) provides four years of medical school to about 240 students, resident/fellow education to over 300 postgraduates and has 167 full time faculty and over 1,100 volunteer faculty. UICOMP has two major academic affiliate hospitals offering numerous opportunities for clinical training and research.  Healthcare is the largest employment sector in Peoria.

 

The senior director of development is responsible for planning, directing, and implementing activities and programs to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward major and planned gifts from individual donors and prospects as well as from community organizations.  There is an opportunity to work with department heads and other key faculty to identify fundraising priorities and initiatives, and to develop strategies for soliciting funds.  This position provides leadership and coordinates activities across the campus and collaborates with others at UIC to maximize philanthropic efforts.

 

The successful candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree with a master’s degree preferred.  A minimum of five years of fundraising experience, preferably in higher education, with a demonstrated ability to solicit five and six figure gifts required.  Strong interpersonal, management, organizational and teamwork skills are required.  Experience working with others to identify, cultivate and solicit prospects is desired.
